A snowy adventure in Canada unlocks Fog of World Lvl. 100

When I visited Canada with friends in my early 20s, a border patrol agent pulled us over. He searched my car for 90 minutes. Fortunately, it had no contraband except for a bag of undeclared grapes.

What a difference it makes to be married and look less like a sus college student.

As we cruised into Vancouver on Friday, Joycie told the border agent, a young woman, “I like your nails.” And most of our remaining exchange was beauty related. Sailing through customs, we arrived in Whistler around 9 p.m. with our five kilos of cocaine. (Just kidding.)

Whistler had two vibes.

At night, it was electric. The quaint cobblestone village was bustling with bars, restaurants, and ice cream shops. We especially loved Pasta Lupino, featuring fresh bread and house-made pasta. Tiff and Keenan, our good friends from Seattle, made a cameo for drinks.

During the day, Whistler was zen. It felt meditative to carve through the fresh powder as cool air whooshed past us. As a new skier, Joycie quickly mastered the key moves, which are oddly named after fast foods. (I told her, “I’m gonna call you Dominoes, the way you’re serving pizza.”)

After a day on the slopes, we dipped over to Richmond to buy Hong Kong Banana Mochi Rolls, one of my favorite desserts. The trip was monumental because it led me to reach Level 100 in Fog Of World, the GPS-based travel app that tracks your travels around the world by letting you clear virtual “fog.” 🏆
