Potetris: the kitchen game
Have you used dishes, pots or pans lately? Did you just wash them and put them away? STOP. You’re missing out on one of the greatest games of all time.
Potetris is a free-to-play game that involves nothing except your kitchen counter. It’s a spatial puzzle where the goal is to stack dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
Basic rules:
Play music to set the vibe. Usually, I say, “Alexa, play tetris music.”
Place a dish towel on your kitchen counter. This is the game area. All dishes must be placed upon it.
Create two stacks of at least three different dishes, pots or utensils.
Use any dish, pot or utensil to connect the two stacks. Once two stacks are connected, you can put them away to create more space on the dish towel.
How to win:
Beat the game by clearing the sink
Your total score is the number of items stacked
How to lose:
You may not move items after you place them on the dish towel
If any item drops, moves or breaks while you’re creating a stack, you lose 10 points.
This counts for 11 points: two stacks of dishes, 5 points apiece, plus 1 point from the wooden spoon that connects the stacks. (One of the dishes in the right stack is hard to see because it’s a nested bowl.)
Another beautiful 11-point stack.
I will admit that Potetris started as a joke. I’m in charge of cleaning the kitchen in my household because I’m not a good cook, and Potetris was a silly idea to pass the time. Well, it’s not silly anymore. It’s a way of life. I’m the world champion now, and I dare you to challenge my title.
